The email directs the recipient to renew the funds through clicking a 'Renew Now' button at the bottom corner of the email. It then takes the individual to fake website that gets them to fill in personal details.
CERT NZ, the government authority responsible for cyber security said in a tweet, that anyone who receives this email should report it directly to Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
How to spot a phishing scam:
- NZTA will only send an email through if an individual has contacted them first.
- Email addresses will always end in @nzta.govt.nz, @enews.nzta.govt.nz or @reply.nzta.govt.nz.
- The email may be missing specific details that the NZTA will have on file: such as your plate number, the date your vehicle license is due and vehicle make and model.
- Hover over buttons and links to see if the pop-up will take you to a genuine government (.govt.nz) website

The Mapua Movie mogul says about "Lost in Translation":
Few movies make you THINK long after they end. This is not a chick flick. It's a human experience flick.
‘Lost in Translation’ examines and lays bare the intricacies of love, life and loneliness; the claustrophobia, insomnia and disorientation of traveling to a foreign country. The loneliness that creeps in after life's normality starts to wear thin. The spark of promise that meeting someone new brings. This is what life is about and what this film so flawlessly portrays.
At only 19 Johanssen is brilliant and beautiful as the lonely, young wife questioning her marriage. Her beauty is classic, not necessarily sexual though she is obviously alluring in this role. This is a role tailor-made for her.
Murray is simply at his best. He does "exasperated, middle-aged and depressed" better than most, with his receding hairline and frumpy body. You really believe that these two could connect in a physical and emotional way, as remote as that may seem on the surface. What other 50-something could ever be believed to be appealing to a young woman as pretty as Charlotte? That's a tough chemistry to fake and I can't think of a more perfect pair. What drives them to this attraction is what's so intriguing to watch.
Turn off your "Major Blockbuster- mind and tune in with a more searching self. Yes watch this movie with your soul and heart, not just your eyes. If you look deeper than the surface you'll find yourself moved by the whole experience, it's really THAT good.
The movie starts at 6:30pm, doors open at 6:15. Bring your own chair, nibbles and drinks and enjoy a drink or a snack at the Sprig and Fern opposite the hall.
