Red Hot Poker flowers

Marilyn from The Brook

NO thanks to the person who took some of my joy by stealing three beautiful red hot poker flowers from my property at 221 Brook St. Now they can no longer be enjoyed by others as they walk past either. That was selfish and you also trespassed to do so. Think in future.

We have sold our lovely Redvale Ridge B&B and are requiring a house for rent preferably in the Māpua, Ruby Bay, Mahana, Redwood Valley area. We need to rent while we look for a place to buy. We need a place by the third week of July.

We are three adults (two in our sixties and the other our 28 year old daughter) and one Russian Blue Cat so would like three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and preferably an office.

We have rented in the past and have left every place better than how we found it. Over the years running our B&B we were consistently reviewed on how clean our home was. We also like to keep a nice garden.

Repair Cafes are community events which match people with broken household items with skilled volunteers or specialists who like fixing things. We're fixing items and building community. Come along and you might pick up some new fixing skills.
You will be able to bring household items for smaller repairs – examples include:

Bicycles
Electrical repairs (NO large appliances, microwaves and electric blankets)
Small furniture or miscellaneous household items
Toys
Clothing & leather
Tool maintenance

One item will be accepted per household, although if it’s not too busy, additional items may be repaired. It will be at the discretion of the Repair Café and the volunteers as to whether an item is suitable for repair, and you’ll be encouraged to observe and engage so that you can pick up new skills too.

Whilst you’re visiting, it’s also a great opportunity to browse the extensive ReStore shop and grab a coffee at their café.

If you want to join in as a repairer or a helper (meet & greet, runner) you would be very welcome and fed coffee and cake!! Contact me through Neighbourly.

Stray Dog

David from Upper Moutere

A black, white and tan dog (about border collie size) who appears to have an injured leg has been seen repeatedly on Bronte Road East. It seems nervous and does not want to make contact. Have you lost a pet recently?

How's retirement treating you? Maybe you're in the midst of planning your retirement but haven't quite settled on your forever home yet.

If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you! The Homed team is giving you the opportunity to show us the home you've retired to and tell us why you love it. If you haven't quite left your career behind and you're planning your retirement we want to hear about it on Stuff Nation.

Remember - this doesn't have to be a one off. You can ask your neighbours for business recommendations for DIY products, advice on home improvement or even to invite your neighbours over for a house warming when your forever home is completed.

To share your thoughts and photos with Stuff head to the Stuff Nation page, we prefer submissions between 350-800 words; otherwise email homed@stuff.co.nz.

Remember to send through lots of photos.
