Selling Items

Kevin from Blenheim

I see on Marlborough buy sell swap some people are advertising items for sale that require collecting.
That means traveling.
Selling these items is not an essential service. What is wrong with some people.
Don't indulge them.

Hi there Neighbours!

With numerous gigs, concerts and festivals postponed or cancelled as a result of the level 4 response, we want you to dance the lockdown away with the new Neighbourly Spotify Playlist! Make your suggestions in the comments below - recommend anything you like on there, as well as tunes you think your Neighbours will enjoy. Chuck in some taste-breakers, one-hit wonders or some good old Kiwi classics - it really doesn’t matter. So if you’re running out of ideas on things to do, why not a dance party?

Just remember: keep it PG, refrain from putting any songs in the mix that may cause offence to your Neighbours. You can find the playlist here.

Happy raving NZ!

A programme designed to teach kids resilience has jumped at the opportunity to keep reaching students throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

The Graeme Dingle Foundation, which delivers three different life skills programmes to Marlborough students, has moved its teachings to virtual platforms in light of the coronavirus lockdown.

The Kiwi Can programme, which operates in 15 Marlborough primary schools, has continued to deliver content to students through short videos.

Kiwi Can leader Fili Fotu-Moala says he misses seeing students face-to-face, but making videos allowed them to reach whole families.

A Marlborough police officer was forced to cut his 3000km cycle ride the length of New Zealand short due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Marlborough highway patrol Constable Brett Burns got as far as Wanaka on March 23 - having ridden about 2760km from Cape Reinga - when it was announced the country would be going into lockdown. He had ridden for 20 days straight and only had about 330km to reach Bluff and complete the journey.

However, Burns said it was the responsible thing to do to end the trip and he drove back to Blenheim from Wanaka the next day.

"After doing a lot of research on Covid-19 alert levels after talking to my wife ... personally and professionally and it's just added up to pull the pin and come back.

With the current restrictions we aren’t able to print or distribute at the moment, but we are working hard on a fantastic May issue for you and it will be on sale as soon as the restrictions ease! I am hearing from so many readers right now about how their gardens have never been more important to them than they are now, so I want to ensure you get your NZ Gardener, packed with beautiful pictures, expert advice, inspiration and information as quickly as possible, so you can enjoy your own garden even more. Meanwhile, when you do your next shop, we’d love it if you could pick up a copy of the April issue which is on sale now (you can add a copy to your online shop too). As you’ve probably heard on the news it is a tough time for magazines right now, and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our regular readers and (especially!) our subscribers. If you are in a position to subscribe, or share your own love of plants and gardening by buying a subscription as a gift for someone else, then we’d be incredibly grateful: mags4gifts.co.nz.... Stay safe and enjoy the extra time in your garden everyone! Jo

A YMCA hoped to invigorate central Blenheim has overcome a "tangle" of regulations only to be frozen in coronavirus lockdown five days before construction was to start.

The 90-bed complex was announced by the Christchurch branch last year after concerns a shortage of motel and backpacker beds prevented sports teams and performers from visiting.

YMCA said at the time it hoped to open the branch in February or March, but that was pushed back as developing the upstairs space proved challenging.

The building's co-owner Robin Sutherland said he was shocked by the number of consultants required to tick all the boxes to convert the first floor into accommodation.

Within two weeks, we have delivered over 5,000 face shields, but we are still hearing the calls of many. As the government and DHB’s publicly assure us that all necessary equipment is readily accessible, the demand for our face shields continues to grow daily, with requests for 30,000 shields.

If you would like to help us help them, sign up to volunteer at shieldsup.org.nz, or make a donation to ensure we can continue to produce and distribute our shields to protect our frontline heroes.
