Tell us about a local business that makes your day?

We all love a cheeky grin and a wave from our local grocer, or a toot from the delivery driver, or a coffee order that’s ready before we arrive. And especially over the last year, it’s been the small businesses in our communities that have almost made things seem ‘normal’. Well, it’s payback time!

Give your favourite local business owner the recognition they deserve by nominating them in the 2021 Prospa Local Business Hero awards – and they could be up for some fantastic prizes (T&C’s apply).

Every nominated business receives a free 3-month premium listing on Neighbourly. The 11 Regional finalists get a $100 Prezzy® gift card for the business (and one for the nominator too) and a 12-month Premium Business listing on Neighbourly (valued at $399). The National winner receives $2,500 cash prize from Prospa, a $5,000 Stuff advertising package and a $2,500 Neighbourly package.

Nominate a business today and spread the word about your Prospa Local Business Hero.

We recognise that people are different and, because of this, volunteering cannot be 'one-size fits all'. That's why we offer 'reverse recruitment'.

Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity that is a little out of the ordinary? Or looking to use specific skills?

Maybe you've looked through the volunteer roles listed on our website and we just don't have what you're looking for at the moment?

This is where our Reverse Recruitment programme comes in. Reverse Recruitment is a FREE service that involves you sitting down with a VM staff member to talk about who YOU are and what YOU want to get out of volunteering. We ask about your dreams, hobbies, skills, passions, experience, future plans, etc. We then build a unique profile and send it out to our network of community organisations and groups so that we can find an opportunity that is tailored just for YOU!

Interested? Sign up by clicking the 'read more' below...
or make an appointment via our main Facebook page, by calling 03-577-9388, or emailing vm@volunteermarlborough.org.nz

Where did all the waterbeds go?

Kylie Klein Nixon Reporter from Homed

Did you have - or do you still have - a Waterbed? I hunted high and low for someone who still used one of the originals, but couldn't find a soul who'd own up to it.
What do you think about these wonderfully kitsch pieces of retro bedroom decor?

The Marlborough Express is collecting memories from ladies who have been part of the club over the past 90-plus years. If you have been a member, and would like to share your memories, we'd love to hear from you.
The club was formed in 1923, and its current building and name were in place by 1927. There were cocktail parties, balls and a children's Christmas event, but also a sanctuary for feeding pre-schoolers, changing nappies, and having a cup of tea.
How much has changed?
