"See the tile below on the two Covid-19 testing centres in Porirua. Thanks Izzy Ford! Here's some details on the main Bedford St testing site: 178 Bedford Street, Cannons Creek, Porirua COVID TESTING HOURS TODAY 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Mon – Sat 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Sun 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM HOURS HAVE INCREASED DUE TO THE LEVEL 4 LOCKDOWN. 0900-1800 DAILY PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE EXPECTING INCREASED DEMAND Primarily a drive through testing centre, but can also see people on foot. Bookings preferred through our call centre 0508 672 862. When testing demand is high, people with clinical symptoms and Covid-19 contact alerts will be prioritised. We are not currently doing testing for people without symptoms or known exposure to Covid-19. Meanwhile, the Wi Neera Dr pop up centre is in the B Block at Whitireia Polytechnic and hours are 10am-4pm.

Now that we are in lockdown spare a thought for all the essential workers like Mark Shakespeare, from Wellington Free Ambulance.
He still has to go to work and face difficult situations helping the sick and the injured. At the same time, he has to keep himself safe.

He still has to go to work and face difficult situations helping the sick and the injured. At the same time, he has to keep himself safe.
“We’re giving more room between ourselves and patients. We’ll turn up with PPE such as masks and gloves.We’ll also ask several questions and depending on the answers, we’ll wear extra PPE to keep them and us safe.”
While the number of emergencies requiring attention remains about the same, the nature of the call-outs changes during lockdown, he said. Paramedics are responding to a lot more calls from people experiencing anxiety and mental distress.

Did you clip your plant labels on them? Perhaps shoot a little video with your phone as you turn the pages. Your feedback will help us put together next year's diary.

While you’re out please stay in your bubbles, keep a 2 metre distance from others and wear face coverings if there’s any chance of getting close to others. Most importantly, be kind and we’ll all get through this together. Stay safe Porirua."
Unsure if people are aware they need to keep children and themselves away from playgrounds and children parks. Sad to see our community flouting these guidelines.

"I've been teaching myself bird photography for a couple of years now. I usually try to zoom right in on the subject and move around so that I can get rid of any distracting twigs or leaves that might cover the subject or create unwanted shadows. Lately I've been thinking sometimes it's good to put a bit of habitat in, especially when it has such beautiful colours as this winter tree just starting to bud up. Kererū/ wood pigeon (Hemiphaga novaeseelandiae), rocking those golden browns and forest greens."
Now that we are in lockdown the SPCA is not rehousing cats and dogs.

Peepo - "A couple weeks ago we adopted Benjamin Button, now called Peepo. He has been a delight and a half, to say the least, and has grown so big in such a small amount of time! Slowly, he has adjusted to his new home and is now a superb older brother to his little sister, Namnam. The staff at the SPCA were super helpful throughout the entire adoption process, even giving us tips on how to introduce our new kittens. Suffice to say they are now best buddies."
Lock-down can be a little boring so to keep amused I am asking you to post an interesting or favourite picture.
Mine is the Baring Head lighthouse near Wellington.
It is a rugged and beautiful spot, and the light was just right for this picture.
