New Zealand has seen a surge of cases of Hepatitis A this year and 12 of those infected (including seven hospitalised) have been linked with the consumption of frozen berries.
The recall of Pams products is a precaution due to this possible link of Hepatitis A associated with berries sourced from Serbia.
Here's what you need to know:
- All batches and all dates of Pams Mixed Berries, Two Berry Mix, Smoothie Berry Mix, and Raspberries have been recalled and removed from supermarkets.
- The Pams products are sold at New World, PAK’nSAVE and Four Square stores nationwide.
- Hepatitis A is a contagious virus which spreads easily. Learn more here.
- Due to the possibility that other brands of berries may be infected, New Zealand Food Safety continues to advise those eating frozen berries to wash hands before and after preparing the berries, briefly boil them before eating and ensure cooking temperatures exceed 85 degree Celsius for 1 minute.
If you have consumed any of these products and have any concerns about your health, seek medical advice.

Running for all of October, 20 murals around the city have been included in a special explorer booklet for young and old to visit and learn more about the street art around Porirua.
There are questions to answer and a corresponding rubbing at each mural. Once you’ve collected three rubbings, you can take your booklet to Te Rauparaha Arena reception and be rewarded with a free Arena Aquatics child swim pass.
To participate, pick up the Street Art Explorer booklet and crayon from the Council front counter in Cobham Court, or any Porirua City Library.

I have had a lot of changes happening in my life recently and it has understandably left me feeling a bit nervous and shy. I can get quite nervous in new situations and when meeting new people, but once I am given time to settle in, and you earn my trust, I know I will settle right into the family. Due to my shyness, I will be best in an adult only home where it is quiet, as loud and sudden noises and movements can sometimes worry me. I would also enjoy going home where one of my humans has had experience with shy and timid cats before. I would also enjoy if my humans were around for some or most parts of the day, so that we can keep each other company. ?
