While New Zealand Food Safety has not received any notification of associated illness, these products have now been removed from shelves at New World, Pak'n Save, and Four Square stores throughout the North Island.
New Zealand Food Safety deputy director general Vincent Arbuckle says "As is our usual practice, New Zealand Food Safety will be working with Foodstuffs to understand how the contamination occurred and prevent its recurrence."
What you need to know:
- The recall includes Pam's 100g punnets of Alfalfa Sprouts, Salad Sprouts, Sandwich Selection Sprouts, and Spicy Sprouts Combo - all with a use-by date of 4 November 2022.
- Affected product should not be eaten, but can be returned to place of purchase for a refund.
- Salmonella poisoning can be serious, especially for people vulnerable to illness, including the very young, the elderly, the pregnant, and those with compromised immune systems.

I have met a few different dogs and have shown that I don't necessarily enjoy the company of other dogs. So would very much like a home as an only dog. I don't appreciate dogs jumping on me. I would much rather be curled up with my humans. I am looking for a home with older teenagers or adults, and a home where it's more quiet rather than a busy household. I walk well on leash, am toilet trained, and have had some basic training. I need a yard with at least 1.6m fencing. I have been learning to ignore the cat in my foster home which is going well. My new owner will need to be aware of my previous medical history which the team will provide to any applicants. The new Piwakawaka Memorial Bush Walk is a gentle path which has been lined with 1500 native plants and runs between the lower and upper areas of the cemetery. People can also choose to buy a small plaque to display on a wooden post along the walk to more permanently mark where their loved one is scattered. There is a chance to hear more about the new walk as part of this year’s annual Cemeteries Week, which runs from 29 October to 6 November.
