Is Anzac Day any more sacred than the right to peaceful protest?

Jared Nicoll Reporter from Kapi-Mana News

A silent protest at Anzac Day commemorations in Wellington has angered many who say the day should be off-limits to protesters. The debate was sparked after NZ First chief of staff David Broome, and his 12-year-old-son James Isa-Broome, interrupted a Newshub interview with peace activists.

Are you giving native biodiversity a helping hand in your free time by planting native plants, weeding pest plants, or trapping pests? If so, we’d love to invite you to Restoration Day, whether you're currently a volunteer, new or thinking about how you can get involved.

Restoration Day is your chance to hear (and share) stories, experiences and best-practice techniques for ecological restoration. It's an annual networking and training event we run with our partners for community groups and individuals involved in the important work of environmental restoration.

There is an exciting line-up of activities and speakers this year, including getting out into the field. So bring your walking shoes!

We'd love you to join us on May 21, so to learn more or to register go to: www.naturespace.org.nz...

Thanks to our many partners involved in organising this day: Department of Conservation, Wellington City Council, Hutt City Council, Kāpiti Coast District Council, Porirua City Council, Victoria University of Wellington and Zealandia Ecosanctuary.

Meeting this Saturday April 1, 11 am to 12.30 pm, Titahi Bay Community Church Hall, Mana Ave. When I was a child I was in shows in the hall. It has historic value. American marines built it for the community. Generations have performed and enjoyed the shows there. It has been sitting abandoned for years. The current mayor wants to help save it. Come and help!

The project needs energy, sponsors, trades people, voluntary labour, materials, services.

This hall is a wonderful resource for our community.
