"Snuffy, aged 17, a fierce defender of her property, a drama queen and dedicated rodent hunter. Died from kidney failure late 2018. PK, a massive show off and occasional thief, her sister, died aged 19 early in 2021, a week after my husband died. She comforted me beforehand even though she was unwell herself, snuggling up and licking the tears from my face."

Can anyone recommend someone skilled and reliable to enlarge and redesign my wardrobe - I need to utilize the space better. It would also entail fitting sliding doors .

My caregivers tried bonding me with another rabbit but unfortunately it was unsuccessful, so I would love to go to a home with an existing female rabbit to be friends with. We’re happy to chat about the bonding process and what is involved. I will need a secure outdoor pen for daytime and an indoor space for night so I can be a part of the family and keep warm. Please enquire to meet me with SPCA’s Small Animals Team today."

"You shall not pass!" she said defiantly standing her ground in the middle of the track. "You can however, sidle past while I stand on this stump." How can something so small be so completely unafraid of the world? South Island robin/kakaruwai (Petroica australis), Ulva Island, 7 January. I guess that makes it P. a. rakiura.

This is the second time Jason has been our guest speaker.
After a false start pursuing a career in the law, Jason saw the light and enrolled at Broadcasting School in Christchurch. This was followed by the normal progression in Broadcasting- working at a succession of regional stations but getting ever closer to the centre and to national exposure.
Jason, a keen sportsman himself, specialised in sports reporting and commentating, especially for the Phoenix. This sector of Broadcasting has faced hard times lately, mostly because of the pandemic. RadioSport was closed at very short notice, leading to job losses, but Jason moved elsewhere in NZME and now has two roles: he fronts a nine to noon slot as newsreader/journalist, and does sports commentating as well. He considers himself privileged to work in an area he loves.
For the three-hour morning show, he works closely with his producer. Each hour of airtime requires an hour of preparation, and they have to be ready for unexpected developments, and to respond quickly. While issues of the day and listener involvement drive the programme, they look for ‘big hits’- interviews with well-known sports personalities, which need careful arranging.
Jason has had much advice from senior sports commentators (he singled our Brian Waddle as a star performer) and put it to good use. On radio, the field position of the action is critical to the listeners’ understanding. On TV, it is important to avoid over-describing what viewers can see for themselves, and to be accurate in identifying key players at critical moments, such as goal-scoring.
Jason noted some trends: spectator sport is becoming more diverse, and there is much less coverage of local matches.
An enthusiastic and engaging talk by a seasoned professional.

"I am an awesome girl who just needs an awesome family! I can be a bit nervous of new situations, so I am looking for a quiet and predictable home with teenagers or adults that can build my confidence and play with me. I would love to spend my days exploring the garden, going on adventures, and after a day of playing with my doggy friends, have a comfy bed to rest up in with lots of cuddles and treats. I am very strong so an experienced owner would suit me best. I would love to go to training classes and work on loose lead walking. If this sounds like you then please contact the canine team."
