"Hi, we’re Zac and Zoe – two best buds looking for a home together. Zac is the happy-go-lucky one of the two of us, while Zoe is a little more timid, but together we’re a perfect pair! We would love someone around for parts of the day, this is until we are settled into our new routine as toileting can sometimes be hit and miss. Our forever home would have no other dogs or cats and children. We’re an older pair, so on the hunt for a home to live out of golden years – the best years of our lives! We’ve been spending some time in foster care and our foster mum has nothing but good things to say about us, but we’re so ready to find our forever home now…please help us do that."

Lawn Bowls
Bryan Waddle took charge of the proceedings this week. He welcomed everyone and paid tribute to our long-time member, Les Austing, who had orchestrated the Bowls Evening for many years. He thanked everyone for their support.

After the stalwarts among us had finished competing on the lawns, or just drinking and chatting, Bryan organised a corner to corner competition. After the first round, there were six finalists. A bottle of wine was awarded to the eventual winner, Graeme Tongs, and the booby prize went to John Barber.

Dinner, beautifully prepared as always by Elite Caterers was a delicious interlude, after which Bryan orchestrated a 'game' of Heads or Tails. This tested everyone's general knowledge and the eventual winner was Jan Phillips, the partner of our newest member, Bruce. Speaking of Bruce, his profile is now in the Club Members' database on the Intranet.

Finally, there was a raffle. Colin Whyte took the third prize but Graham Wallace walked away with the second and the main prize of a basket brimming with goodies!

Bryan thanked Philip Whearty for all the work he did behind the scenes, as usual, with preparation and setting up and President Kay thanked Bryan for creating such a fun evening for everyone.

A massive slab of Toblerone is up for grabs to encourage corporates to support a raffle for the Wellington Children’s Hospital.
Hutt City Rotary Club president Gaylene Hughes says the raffle has the support of all the regions Rotary clubs and she is hoping to sell 12,000 tickets by May.
With Covid-19 rampant it is a hard time to sell a raffle, which has a first prize of a 2022 Kia Picanto valued at $23,000.
She hopes that corporates will get on board by buying large blocks of the remaining tickets and the Toblerone is being offered as an incentive. Corporates who buy tickets will go into a draw for the chocolate.
