First we got hit with a $2m bill to fix Waikanae Library after it was closed following 16 years of leaky building issues with toxic mould. Now Te Newhanga Community Centre has similar issues and faces a $1.2m repair bill!

This reinforces my call for an independent review into KCDC's asset management practices and to check for any other building issues that are lurking out there. When KCDC is already in a tight financial situation, we simply can't afford these types of building disasters.

Kapiti Chess Club runs structured junior chess coaching and provides support to schools and colleges within the Kapiti region.

Junior coaching commences 7pm every Tuesday at the Kapiti Chess Club, located at the Salvation Arm Hall, Bluegum Rd, Paraparaumu.
