Dear Friends,
You might have come across the news of heavy rainfalls and severe flood in the southern most state of India, called Kerala. These are some facts and figures about current situation.

44 rivers in full spate, many breaking banks.
42 Dams opened.

Death toll nearing 400 at this stage.
Total lost of 12 billion, estimated at this stage.
All this happening in a place smaller in size than North Island but with a population of 35 million and density of 890/sq km(3 times India's national average) you can imagine the calamity if you compare it with our population density of 18/sq km. Kerala(malayalee) community has already started helping out the Rescue Shelters with Funds, Essential Supplies and Logistics. We have been actively involved in action since 16th of August but now we know that it's a MONSTER TASK!!
Wellington Malayalee Association Inc. has set up a Give A Little page since yesterday to raise funds from friends, neighbors and wider communities.

Start Up kit contains, essential household supplies like mats, bedsheets etc as well as basic food/coooking items like rice, salt etc..
PLEASE HELP THIS PEOPLE!!
