Virtually all NZ arrivals, except from Australia and Pacific Islands, will now need a negative Covid test before coming in, the Government has announced.
Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins on Tuesday gave Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield new powers, which means he can now easily require negative tests for arrivals from all countries.
It comes as Covid-19 surges around the world, in sharp contrast to New Zealand, where there is no current community transmission. Both the US and UK are experiencing unprecedented peaks in Covid-19 and nearly 2 million people have now died from the virus globally.

Thanks to the brave and quick actions of these members of the public (pictured centre and centre right) – an offender who was trying to make a getaway after stealing money from a Henderson dairy was stopped and swiftly arrested. 👏

Earlier this month, one of the owners of the store was working behind the counter when a man entered the store and demanded money.

He walked behind the counter to the cash register and took a large sum of money, but the owner very quickly managed to activate the anti-theft smoke canon and the offender fled the shop.

Seeing what happened, the members of the public chased the offender and caught him, holding him until Police arrived soon afterwards.

He was then arrested and taken into custody.

A 40-year-old man has been charged with theft and was due to appear in the Waitakere District Court last week.

The money taken was returned to the dairy owners (pictured on the left), who were very grateful to those who stepped in to help.

A great result and example of people going above and beyond to look out for people in their local community.

Have you resolved to be mindful of your eating habits this year?
An excellent way to enjoy guilt-free sugar is to use raw honey as a sweetener.
Raw Honey comes straight from the honeycomb. It has been strained only enough to remove small bits of debris (pollen lumps, beeswax and bee bits!) but still contains plenty of pollen, propolis and anti-oxidants with all the nutrients and goodies that the bees put into it.
Processed honey is clearer than raw honey and doesn't crystallise. Raw honey can crystallise over time but you can easily fix that by warming your honey jar in water (not too hot) until the crystals melt. Some people actually prefer the crystally texture.
Bring your jar into Hive World at 16 Wall Place,, Kenepuru to fill with your choice of honey.
Taste before you buy - 5 varieties to choose from.

A memorial service was held for one of New Zealand's most famous birds, Manukura the Little White Kiwi, at Pukaha National Wildlife Centre on Saturday.
The little white kiwi with a feisty personality was more than just a bird to those who met her and the institutions who served as her guardians.
The extremely rare bird made the news across the world as the first white kiwi chick to be hatched in captivity back in 2011, and she died on December 27, 2020 after surgery to remove an infertile egg that had become stuck.

I'm a one and a half year old, medium cross breed - with a mix of staffy and boxer. I'm very affectionate with humans. Although, I'm recommended to stay with teenagers and older, as I'm a little unfamiliar with children. Otherwise, I'm the biggest cuddle bug! I have been socialised with some dogs at the centre, so I won't mind living with a friendly, playful dog. I would love a family that can take me out for walks everyday and keep me active."
