Winter Carrot Soup (Recipe)

Ingredients

15 g Butter
1 Leek, white and light green parts only, thinly sliced
500 g Carrots, peeled and thinly sliced
2 tsp Thyme leaves
1 Ltr Vegetable stock
1 splash Cream, for finishing

Melt the butter in a heavy-based saucepan over low heat. Add the leek, cover the pan and cook until it begins to soften, about 10 minutes.

Add the carrots and thyme leaves with the vegetable stock. Season with sea salt flakes and black pepper. Cover and simmer until the carrots are very tender, 25-30 minutes.

Remove soup from the heat and leave to cool a little before blending to a puree.

Return the carrot soup to the saucepan and heat. Ladle into warmed soup bowls and drizzle a little cream over each bowl of soup.

My "non-smart" Alcatel One Touch phone makes pocket calls in spite of having the keys "locked".

Bryan from Swanson

Does anyone know how to prevent this? I typically keep it in a case on my belt and it should be very difficult for individual keys to be accidentally pressed but it happens too often. It often calls 111 and sometimes other frequently dialled numbers.

It's time our parks for our Tamariki are made 100% safe, instead of them being boarded up like the towers are.
Enclosed is my letter to Auckland City Council.
Good afternoon, Today I was really dissappointed after taking my Tamariki to the Tui Glen Park today, It was no different back in the last school holidays, What use to be a really wonderful and safe Park/play ground for our young Tamariki of Auckland City, is now unmaintained and could be considered as dangerous, What use to be an awesome park, that was Commisioned back in 04/2012. Each of the climbing frames, swings and flying fox's all have a small plate fixed to them, They have the Commisioning date only, there has been no obvious recorded mainenance since on any of the equipement in the park, The 2 large climbing towers with the between the towers is boarded of each each to prevent the Tamariki using the bridge because the netting is in such a delapidated state this bridge allows the smaller kids access to the 2 slides. I heard today Auckkland City Council did not want to spend the money on putting new netting over the bridge, as it was going to cost $50,000 to get from Germany, Are our children not worth spending money on to make the park safe. The Flying fox's both need urgent attention as the rollers are almost worn out, once the kids travel down the flying fox, it can't be returned back up for the next person unless it is pulled down tightly, any small child can not do this with out help. Time to step up and look after the Assets that are inplace for our Tamariki, especially in the parks over the Holiday's.  I will post this letter in the Neighborly for rest of West Auckland to see how the Auckland City council looks after our parks and does not consider the children using them.

Call of the Wild Woman Course
A study course of the book “Women Who Run With The Wolves.”

Have you lost your instinctual sense of direction due to society’s expectations and demands?
Would you like to connect with and reclaim your intuitive self and ignite the fire of your passions?
Are you ready to unearth the parts of you that you have lost, given away or were taken from you?

Many women know that something’s missing and sense a call toward a larger, a more fertile life but they don’t know what to do. Join us in exploring and reclaiming our creative intuitive nature as we sit in circle together and explore stories and myths on how to regain our divine feminine birth-right and empower the wild woman within that is longing to thrive.

The emphasis in this 7-week course is based on the perceptions of the female psyche, the shadow, archetypal realities and the life/death/life cycles of relationships. Women are encouraged to walk beside the stories we study to enter the depths of the underworld (subconscious mind) to retrieve and restore parts of their authentic self which are lost or lay dormant so that they may experience spiritual vitality and liberation in their soulful lives once again. Let’s contact this fundamental and ancient layer of our being, the realm of the Wild Woman.

Facilitated by Dee Petit, a Certified Abundant Life Coach, teacher of Awakening the Illuminated Heart Meditation Courses and facilitator of young and mature Woman’s Empowerment Workshops throughout Auckland. Dee was trained to work with women to assist and reclaim back their power by the famous Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, certified Psychoanalyst, Jungian analyst, storyteller and post-trauma recovery specialist and international bestselling author of “Women Who Run With The Wolves.”

Testimony: I closed a very important “first chapter’ last night. I feel so blessed to have attended such an amazing workshop, overflowing with such richness, support and encouragement. But most importantly, love. Love for being human, for being a woman and for life and all its flaws. I also want to express my gratitude for meeting Dee, a wonderful woman and amazing teacher. Dee, you have made me think, process and confront a lot of things. Here is to you and to you building a community of like-minded souls who are eager to learn and transform. Thank you and good luck Dee, I cannot wait to see your work manifest and touch many more lives. - Sheryl LP
