I recommend you check it out online for your town. But the tool does not include wave effects and therefore tends to underestimate the severity of the sea flooding.
Coastal engineers have now looked at wave set-up for Whitianga. They conclude that the wave set-up level is 0.6 m for that town. So this 0.6m should be added to storm tide levels and potential sea level rise levels when assessing possible sea flooding for Whitianga. We now need WRC and TCDC to do this wave set-up modelling for all Peninsula towns.
