Lorna Thornber Reporter from Stuff Travel

We'd be keen to hear about your favourite summer holiday spots in NZ. Is there somewhere you keep returning to year after year and, if so, what are the main attractions? What makes it such a stand-out spot? Any tips you may be able to offer on the best things to see and do there… View more

We'd be keen to hear about your favourite summer holiday spots in NZ. Is there somewhere you keep returning to year after year and, if so, what are the main attractions? What makes it such a stand-out spot? Any tips you may be able to offer on the best things to see and do there - as well as the best places to grab a drink or bite to eat - would be much appreciated. Please put 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it to appear in a travel article. Thanks again.

BNZ announced it will close 38 of its branches nationwide, with shutdowns beginning in April 2021. With the bank closure looming for Coromandel Town residents, elderly are left feeling anxious and unsure of how to adapt.

Residents who require face to face services are now forced to go to Thames or Whitianga, with many angry at the renegation of the promise for these rural branches to stay open until 2022.

A call to our community!
This year's WEAVE Cultural Market will be on the 11th of December in Garden Place from 4pm till 8pm. The New Zealand Red Cross hosts this as an opportunity for our former refugee and migrant communities to host a food or craft stall, showcasing the talent and diversity that they bring to Hamilton communities. This year we have found ourselves short on a few items and hope that you can support us to spread the word, with the hope of securing these.

We are currently wanting to kindly borrow:
- Gazebos for our stalls.
- Yard games.

Please help us to share the word!

If you are able to help, please feel free to call us on 07 849 0285 or email: waikato@redcross.org.nz.

Hi Neighbours,

What are some fun things to do that'll attract New Zealanders to your corner of the Coromandel?

Officials estimate that the Coromandel lost $50 million dollars from a non-existent tourism industry during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The Repco Beach Hop classic car festival is expected to pump $10 million into the region, with 12,500 entrants and 100,000 car fanatics expected to travel to Coromandel on November 25.

The five day festival was originally planned for March, but event organisers postponed until November due to Covid-19.
