The council have released an image of an artwork to be installed at Maclean Park and unveiled in early 2020.
They say the nearly 10m long sculpture "symbolises the journey of whales and other travellers through the Te Rau o te Rangi waters – the strait between Kapiti Island and the mainland. "
It will be made of pre-cast concrete and include "ambient lighting and sound effects to create an aural and visual experience".
Do you like it? Let us know what you think!
We're yet to find out what it cost but will let you know on Monday.
