“Today is the two-year adoptaversay of Klio and Quintus (Charlotte and Quinn). How pawsome! We wanted to let you know that they are both doing very well. Klio went from being very shy to now insisting on always being on our laps. Always. Even to the point of trying to get up before we have fully sat down. Quintus was diagnosed with diabetes last January, but has responded very well to the insulin injections and continues to be quite chatty and fluffy. Perhaps I should post some photos of all the bulbs and plants they have dug up around here. The Muscari they dug up, not once, but three times. The Azaleas they ripped out. The Dahlia bulbs.... The fruit trees they have stripped. The potatoes and carrots they have dug up, (taking a bite out of each one). The poop they leave everywhere, fouling up our paddocks and making grazing impossible.
Most distressing is the way they swoop in and slaughter our precious native ducks and threatened grey teal. I hear the ducklings screaming as they are carried off and ripped apart, and there is nothing I can do to save them as cant get to them in time. Pukekos, in my view, are the most troublesome, gruesome, destructive birds imaginable.
