The contractors have advanced further along Rimu Road than initially anticipated at this time. With works nearing the police station, the traffic flow will change slightly over the next few weeks.
👉 For those travelling on Kāpiti Road, the right turn into Rimu Road will remain open. However, please note that the left turn into Rimu Road will be temporarily closed once we reach closer to the intersection.
👉 The one-way southbound lane on Rimu Road will remain operational, and the northern entrance of the Coastlands Shopping Centre will reopen for left-turning traffic both in and out.
To ensure everyone's safety, it is important to follow the instructions given by the traffic lights and our dedicated traffic controllers.🚫
We understand that this ongoing work may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and cooperation of all, while we work to reduce flooding to 350 properties in the area.
This work will continue until March next year, as it will progress onto Rimu Road and Kāpiti Road intersection before heading east towards the Old State Highway intersection and eventually north along Amohia Street.

I understand that tree roots sometimes deform footpaths and quite correctly, it is a trip hazard that KCDC must address.
The short term fix KCDC employs is to grind the concrete to minimise the tripping hazard.
I have no problems with this option provided they don't come back shortly after and rip up the footpath to replace it after just spending money to grind it.
But what I'm often witnessing are footpaths with the minimal or no damage being replaced.
As an example, the extensive new 100m plus footpath on Queens Road alongside the Victor Wiggery Reserve or virtually the entirety of Eruine Street.
With a 7.8% increase in rates this year perhaps one of our elected counsellors could investigate this issue.
It would be a simple case of obtaining a list of planned work and driving around visually inspecting if the work is critical or could be postponed to a later date.
Alternatively, KCDC could publicly release a regularly updated list of planned work and local residents could make a submission, possible through the Antenno app, if they believe the work is unnecessary.
