FEATHERSTON & GREYTOWN
After a planned water shutdown to install new treatment equipment for Greytown's Memorial Park bore yesterday, we were restoring supply when a power cut occurred.

The power cut affected the Waiohine Treatment plant, which supplies water to both Greytown and Featherston. The Waiohine reservoirs were already quite low, as they had been meeting demand during the planned water outage. Although the Memorial Park bore was operational during the power cut, it was not meeting Greytown's demand.

We organised water tankers to supplement the water remaining in the reservoirs. Fortunately power was restored at 9.30pm. This allowed us to begin re-filling the Waiohine-fed reservoirs for Featherston and Greytown.

Thank you to all residents who are responding to the request to cut back water use, especially outdoors, and to the Greytown Fire Service for helping spread the word.

While the reservoirs are being re-filled, the total outdoor water ban (in Featherston & Greytown) is still in effect. We will look to lift this ban when operations continue as normal. We are anticipating this will be lifted tomorrow at 9am. We will confirm this tomorrow morning.

MARTINBOROUGH
From 10 December total outdoor water ban applies in Martinborough.

Once again, we will be bringing our range of heirloom vegetables to the Waikanae and Otaki markets this weekend. Look for our signboard along Park Road at Waikanae and in the grassed area at Otaki.
Our later tomato plantings, including Indigo Rose, Green Sausage, Black Krim, the Brandywines (Pink, Red and Yellow), Tumbling Tom, various cherries and low-acid varieties, are ready now. Strong healthy plants that will race away in current conditions. Now is an ideal time to plant outdoors for optimum results. $3.00 each.
Cucumbers include the hard-to-get New Zealand heirloom, Port Albert, and Poona Keena, an old variety from India, as well as Telegraph, Lebanese and Crystal Apple.
Limited quantities of Bonica Eggplant, a prolific early-producing variety.
We also have sweet capsicum, hot chillis, basil (sweet and Thai) and watermelon, plus zucchini and pumpkin.
For those who missed out earlier, we have new plantings of dwarf and climbing beans coming in the next couple of weeks. Succession planting will extend the harvesting season.
For more info and a list of all available varieties, please contact me at thepassingshow@xtra.co.nz

This lovely little runabout needs a new driver. Present owner should not be driving anymore! :-(
1300 engine capacity; central locking; tyres are non-skid in wet conditions and have plenty of tread though could do with rotation; front shocks replaced about 2-3 years ago; new radio put in about 2 years ago; brake hoses and support bushes replaced in November; wipers about one year old. An extremely reliable little vehicle which has done me proud for the past 11 years. It has the usually scrapes and scratches and dents comensurate with its age. Spent most of its stationary life in a garage. Can be viewed at 163 Raumati Road. Contact either Dave at 021 069 2958 or Jaime at 021069 2503. Price $2775 negotiable.
