Our waterways and all the fish and species that live in them are precious taonga, so we have set out to understand how they are valued and what should be done to provide the future we want for our water.
The importance of the environment, Hutt River and our waterways are important to me and critical to the well-being of current and future generations. hi, I would like some wood ash to make glaze for ceramics, any fine ash from the bottom of your wood burner would be great as long as it is contaminant free ( no treated wood or plastics burnt ) and the less charcoal lumps the better as I have to sieve these out

Lions New Zealand identified a need for spectacles to aid people in the Pacific Islands.
As a result The Lions Club of Kapiti has a spectacle recycling project and they are continually looking for used glasses that can be used in this project.
Do you have any old glasses that you wish to pass on?
Useful items are passed on to Volunteer Ophthalmologist Services Overseas (VOSO) for distribution to those with poor eyesight in the Pacific Islands.
They are then sorted, checked for cracks and scratches before being washed in an ultrasonic washer and dried. They then have their prescription recorded and are packed for delivery.
VOSO consists of teams of eye surgeons, optometrists and eye care workers who visit the isolated communities and bring enhancement to the lives of hundreds of people annually.
