After 20 years of planning, fundraising and design, and 18 months' construction, the new Mahara Gallery was blessed this week by Kāpiti kaumatua Te Rakauoteora Te Maipi (Koro Don). A public reopening is expected later this year, once the space has its final touches.

This practical completion stage means the Mahara Gallery Trust can start moving back into the gallery and working on the all-important climate control systems. When the climate is stable, the Trust can move their taonga back and set up exhibitions.

Ngā mihi to those who've helped reach this milestone. It's a testament to the dedicated efforts of many, many people who've worked to achieve the vision of a museum-quality arts space in Kāpiti. To find out more about this project, visit www.kapiticoast.govt.nz...

The Amohia stormwater network upgrade in Paraparaumu has moved into the south-east corner of Kāpiti School’s field, and our contractors are carrying out finishing work in Iver Trask Place.

Traffic on Iver Trask Place has been reconfigured, but the one-way system remains in place for now. Some car parks have been reinstated and our contractors will reopen more as work progresses. Work is expected to reach Rimu Road in mid May.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our crews progress this important project. It’s part of our plan to reduce flooding in the Amohia and Ruahine Street catchment areas, and help prepare our district to live with more water.
