We still have some finishing touches to do in the new year, including installing shade sails over some of the new playground, planting, and completing some of the shared pathways but we wanted to make sure the community could make the most of these fabulous new facilities over the summer holidays.
Feel free to give us your feedback and make sure to share so all your friends and whānau know about it too. Happy playing!

Went up to Foursquare to get some other items and proceeded to Great Spice to collect our order at 7.45pm, mentioned to the lady our name and awaited our order. ONLY to wait another hour before our meal was passed over to us.
I am glad that this restaurant is busy, would have been good if the lady who took our order told us before hand that they were extremely busy and would be 1.5hrs delay in orders, and we could have made up our mind to go ahead with the order or just go up later!!!!
There was another lady there to collect her order who had been told they were just waiting for a driver to deliver their order and she found out that they were only just starting to prepare the order.
Suggestion!!! be honest on delivery times as I am sure the locals understand that its holiday season and can make the decision to either proceed or make another plan.
The curry as always good here but the service was al little (actually big) disappointing.

This is totally unreasonable.
It is understandable that some people want to restrict dogs in some ways under certain circumstances, but this needs to be fair to dog owners and their pets who enjoy the beach as much as anyone else. For a person who lives alone, their dog may be their only companion.
There are no dedicated dog parks in the Mount or Papamoa even though a large number of rate payers are also dog owners, so there is nowhere else for dogs, large and small, to freely play and exercise.
Some beaches (like Whangamata) have dedicated hours to walk off leash dogs during the summer (November to end of March). When I was there, the hours for unleashed dogs were 6pm till 10am, with all the rest of the day available to people and leashed dogs only.
Although this means some minor restrictions, it allows maximum freedom for everyone to enjoy the beach in their own way. I have written to the council with this suggestion. If you have an opinion about dogs on the beach, please contact the council on info@tauranga.govt.nz

If you’re into birdwatching, the saltmarsh is home to the native banded rail and North Island fernbird.
