What do you think about the new wastewater project?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Mobile phones, keys, tennis balls, wallets, toys, a boomerang, even a set of false teeth – you name it and it’s likely to have turned up at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Over the years, they've built up quite a collection of objects, and visitors always find this one of the most interesting things to see when they visit the plant. People’s mouths literally drop open when they see some of the larger objects, such as bricks and rocks that have passed through.

Palmerston North is gearing up for the biggest city council project ever undertaken – new and improved management of its wastewater.

With an estimated budget of $128.8 million, the project dubbed "Nature Calls" has a deadline of June 2022 to put a proposal to Horizons Regional Council for resource consent for a new scheme.

A public open day is being held at the Wastewater Treatment Plan on Saturday 3 November. Guided tours around the plant will run between 10am and 4pm.

An information tent will allow people to speak with the team about the City’s future wastewater options. There are limited numbers for the tours and bookings are required. Bookings can be made here
