After running for 28 years, the big annual pre-Christmas food drive in Palmerston North is no longer considered viable. Part of the problem is potential sponsors don't want their name anywhere near plastic bags given their poor environmental reputation. However, the Salvation Army sends out recyclable bags.
Could you tell the difference between recyclable and non-recyclable plastic? Do you think businesses are overreacting, or does the annual cause need to change with the times?

Hi. I would normally drop this extra food to Just Zilch however they are not open today. We have a couple dozen bread rolls and a couple of bread loafs left from a function last night. Where / who could I take them too?

Secondly this week Te Tihi also move into their new premises so pick up for orders will be from the new office. It is just around the corner from the old office but the entrance is off Broadway. The address is 200 Broadway just opposite the Catholic church and it is well signposted on the street. Their pick up time is still 1-3pm.

Come along and experience the beautiful handcrafted rimu timber paneling and elegant chandeliers along with the extensive history of the property.
Explore the house and gardens, learn about the past owners and how the house was rescued from dereliction and destruction in the eighties by PNCC and many supporters. Then brought back to life in the nineties to become a thriving venue with stories of the past to tell.
The Coach House will be open, displaying the history archives throughout the old stables.
Bring the whole family, relax on the lawn with a picnic and enjoy the summer sunshine and gorgeous array of plants and flowers in our gardens.
This is also a good time to view the venue if you are planning on holding a wedding or function. Feel free to approach our friendly staff for a chat or pick up one of the brochures from the foyer that contain all information on making a booking.
Extensive care has been put into the preservation of the buildings - so we love to share the experience of yesteryear with visitors.
We are open to the public and entry is free! See you there!

May Kitchen knows how important it is to provide carers with a break. After visiting her husband Stuart in respite care at a Ryman village, she was tempted to move in herself! “If it was me, I think I would enjoy it because it’s just so beautiful and the food is good.”
Ryman villages provide warm and welcoming communities. Where residents can enjoy activities and outings while forming friendships along the way.
