A Manawatū care worker, who didn't want to be named over fear of losing her job, said home care workers were not being provided masks and were being abused by patients for the lack of precautions.
She and her colleagues visited up to 20 vulnerable patients a day. They were deeply afraid of spreading the virus.
Some patients told her they would have refused to let her in were they not so dependent on her help and some workers were refusing to work until they have the proper protective gear they need to keep themselves and their patients safe.
Home care workers are stuck between wanting to help and do their jobs and being afraid to spread the virus, should they buy their own equipment or be supplied? What are your thoughts?

Just like supermarkets, our Pharmacies will have limited entry. On top of that you will be asked basic health questions before going in. If unwell, you could be asked to wait in your car or outside – better still ask a healthy person to pick up your prescription for you! They may need to bring ID and could be asked some questions by the pharmacy team.

Did you catch up with this latest advice from the Palmerston North City Council's emergency operations centre?
"We’re encouraging people to keep their dogs on-leash whenever they are out in public with them – even on parks where dogs are normally allowed off-leash. This is to ensure the dog doesn’t come into contact with anyone but its owner. Please don’t let other people pat or approach your dog when out walking.”
Fair enough?

We’re responsible for coordinating access to household goods and services including food, transport assistance, medication collection, and general household goods.
For food parcel provision, Council is working with The Salvation Army, which has already combined its food bank services with Methodist Social Services, Crossroads Church and Just Zilch, and moved into a food delivery-based model.
For welfare needs outside of household goods and services, such as accommodation or financial support, Council will provide information and pathways for people to access the correct support channels."

We’re heading into winter, and with households self-isolating together, there’ll be more cooking at home, and more use of open fires, heaters, and dryers - all things which can increase fire risk.
New Zealanders can be confident that Fire and Emergency is well-prepared and ready to respond to emergencies as usual during the nationwide self- isolation period.
Please call 111 if you have a fire, we will ask you whether anyone at the address is self-isolating or has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Where this is the case, we already have necessary measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety including protective clothing, gloves, masks, safety glasses and mask.
