Otorohanga Steamfest

Barry from Otorohanga District

Well what an outstanding success the weekend was. The weather was a bit unkind and what a tease to have great days all this week. The rain didn't stop about 8000 people attending. How do we know?
The Otorohanga District Council has a very sophisticated drone that was flown throughout Steamfest weekend and it was used to take a series of photographs so that a head-count could be made at different times of each day.
Steamfest 2018 is being planned right now. The website www.steamfest.co.nz... was updated on Sunday night with a form to register for information mail-outs, and by early Monday morning several hundred people had already registered. We even had one lady arrive at the office wanting to pre-pay for seats on the 2018 Dinner Train.
Lots of great photo's can be seen on www.facebook.com...

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
