Beekeeping for Beginners

Taranaki Beekeepers Club is starting their Beekeeping for Beginners Course at 7pm on Monday 6th July at The West Baptist Church Hall, 144 South Rd, (between Spotswood Service Station and Ngamotu Rd).

The course is on the first Monday of each month for 7 Months and is backed up with fortnightly (weather dependent) hands-on field days at the club apiary in Spotswood.

There is no charge for the course with the expectation that if you continue then you will join the Club, $30 per subscription.

This course is aimed at the complete novice, others are welcome, and covers topics such as equipment selection and sourcing, finding stock, compliance, bee husbandry and hive management.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
