I hope this does not lead to more leaky homes or unsafe structures. I wonder if this is a sign of frustration with local authorities. I have heard of 2 recent cases in New Plymouth where Council staff have not bothered to check plans submitted before calling for a property inspection. They have been found lacking and had to accept they did not bother to check first. All the more serious as home owner's/builder's have often spent big money to get the likes of architects to complete design work. Appears to be part of a plan to keep Council to legislated time frame as each time they reject the countdown can start again. When you consider the costs that keep getting heaped on ratepayers you would think we would at least get a good service.

The effects of the manipulation of Interest rates to the detriment of ordinary Kiwis and their offspring; the unmandated and the inflationary practices of recent administrations has seen us pass a crisis point. Apart from a recent pathetic attempt to address is there any interest in solving problem. A good start would be an agreement to concentrate on making property affordable to all including future generations. We need to reverse our reducing home ownership trend and enable it to climb again. Renting must also be affordable but this will only get worse the way we are going.

While it will be impossible to include all of them in one article, we'd appreciate your help in narrowing it down. What do you think are most beautiful places in NZ's regions? Do you have a favourite spot in the Waikato, Taranaki, Canterbury, Southland or elsewhere?

With online being the main mode of communication these days, it's no wonder that there has been a worldwide mail decline and here in Aotearoa, NZ Post has needed to lay off 750 full-time staff. Do you think it's time to say goodbye to the trusty letterbox?
