The Don, a 30ft fibreglass launch, sank while berthed at the New Plymouth Marina.
The sinking has brought back the surface calls for the marina to be given an upgrade, with one district councillor calling the current facilities the worst in the country, while another boat owner says he spends thousands keeping his vessel in Auckland because he's not satisfied with what's offered here.
