ASB Bank wouldn't accept cash?!!! Nor Eftpos!

A few days ago I attempted to place cash at ASB New Plymouth in an ASB account as payment for goods. This was refused, as was my eftpos card. I was told that this had been so since Covid19..... What???? A bank that won't accept cash or eftpos? Even with a passport and driver's licence as… View moreA few days ago I attempted to place cash at ASB New Plymouth in an ASB account as payment for goods. This was refused, as was my eftpos card. I was told that this had been so since Covid19..... What???? A bank that won't accept cash or eftpos? Even with a passport and driver's licence as proof of identity?
I understand the non acceptance of cheques as it requires some extra work with data inputting.... So.... why do they still dispense cash then? They still have an ATM outside...
So what happens if there is an electrical/electronic breakdown [like the Christchurch earthquake.....]. Personally, if I was a customer with ASB I'd be walking with my feet. I'm sure other banks would want my money.
