- Parliament has been suspended until further notice on the advice of Civil Defence.
- Make sure you check on your neighbours - even though there may have not been any damage near you, your neighbours may still need your help.

- Metlink Wellington said rail services would continue to run with some delays following the recent earthquake.
- Fire and Emergency NZ had no reports of injuries nor damage across the South Island.

Nelson Police are investigating an incident that occurred in the Buxton Square Carpark in the early hours of last Sunday morning (21 October).
Between 12.30am and 1am two teenage girls were threatened by a group of eight young women near the public toilets.
The girls who were being threatened… View moreNelson Police are investigating an incident that occurred in the Buxton Square Carpark in the early hours of last Sunday morning (21 October).
Between 12.30am and 1am two teenage girls were threatened by a group of eight young women near the public toilets.
The girls who were being threatened sought help from two men who were sitting in a nearby car. The girls got into the car and the group are believed to have then attacked the car. The men drove the girls away from the carpark to safety.
Police are keen to speak with the two men and asked that they contact Nelson Police. They were driving a dark coloured sedan with mismatched mag wheels.
We would also like to speak to anyone else who was in the carpark at the time and witnessed the incident, or anyone who has information that may be relevant to this investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Nelson Police on (03) 546 3840, information can alo be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
