Rates Rise for chlorinated water.
NCC estimates that water projects will cost the ratepayers $20 million - there is no plan to remove the chlorine - and NCC is asking for a rates increase of 6.4%. In contrast Christchurch is spending $35 million upgrading their water supply and 98% of their network will be chlorine-free by mid-winter. Christchurch has 146 wells and Napier has only 10 wells. Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
