Napier residents are being asked to conserve water, while Hastings District Council has increased its water restrictions to level three after pockets of homes lost supply during peak times.
The level three restrictions means a total ban of sprinklers but residents can use hand held hoses to water their gardens every second day, between 6am and 8am, and 7pm and 9pm. The whole region was also under a fire ban.
