RECYCLING BINS AND STRONG WINDS

Esperanza from Taradale

My street is covered with plastic bottles, paper, even glass due to the high winds. Some containers are empty and sailing around. I guess we need to organize and locate the containers in a way that can be somehow wind-proof. It might be only the area i am living on. Check it out anyway. Chlorine free water for Napier

Last year NCC claimed 'The capital cost to develop a water distribution network that is suitable to remove chlorine as a treatment methodology is likely to be in the billion dollar range and would take decades to implement.' This year the billion dollar estimate has been revised down to roughly $110 million with a potential rates increase of 22% in the March 2019 report. This is all scare-mongering: the review overly exaggerates the contamination risks within Napier’s distribution network and makes unsubstantiated claims regarding the effectiveness of chlorine. The Christchurch upgrade to enable return to chlorine-free water is estimated to cost around $35 million."

In the COMMENT box tell the council that you want chlorine-free water, and write a few sentences saying why you think Napier's water supply should be chlorine-free. Scroll down to the bottom and click NEXT. To end simply click DONE
We do not need chlorine treatment or expensive U.V. treatment plants - the council could save ratepayers millions of dollars if they follow what Christchurch is doing.
If Christchurch can go chlorine-free so can we - our aquifer is better than theirs.

Napier Cemetery warning

Bridget from Hospital Hill

Dog owners beware Napier Cemetery if you are walking your dogs there. I took my dogs for a walk last night and one of them was eating something in a recently gardened area. He vomited last night and is very listless this morning...off to the vet.

Andre lives with his daughter and her husband Antoine in Paris. Andre claims he was once a tap dancer. Or was he an engineer whose daughter now lives in London with her new lover Pierre? The thing is he is still wearing his pyjamas and he can’t find his watch.

This extraordinary play explores issues of reality versus memory, and does so with deft black comedy. It’s an honest, profoundly moving, darkly comic and quietly devastating masterpiece.

This powerful play is not to be missed!
