A complex and slow-moving trough of low pressure affects the North Island today, bringing rain or showers to many places, with some heavy falls about parts of eastern districts.

The heaviest rain is expected in the Tararua District and Hawkes Bay south of Waipawa where a heavy rain warning is still in force. Periods of rain, heavy at times, is also expected northwards of Waipawa.

Valid: 7 hours from 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday
Forecast: Rain, heavy at times. Expect a further 40 to 70mm to accumulate on top of what has already fallen. Peak intensities about 10mm per hour.

It is a Westminster parliamentary convention that in the event of an equal or tied vote that the speaker or chairperson or in our case mayor does not vote but refers the matter back to the chamber or committee for further discussion to reach a majority vote.


 In the case of a Mayors vanity big spending project this convention should be respected even more. Of course I am referring to the proposed new swimming pool complex to be sited on Prebensen Drive and Dalton's use of his casting vote to achieve this.
