Hello everybody!

I am a year 13 student from NGHS and as a part of my social studies class we are required to make a change within the community!

I have chosen to look into the effect that the advertisement of vaping - in terms of appealing e-liquid flavours, sponsoring sports and music festivals, social media posts and youth brand ambassadors - can have on teenage usage and addiction.

I have conducted a survey within my school that shows the links between e-cigarette usage and later trial of traditional nicotine based cigarettes - further highlighting their danger.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could fill out my petition and help out with my school project! Please message me if you have any further questions!

Last year alone, 427 serious injuries claims were made to ACC because of crashes and driving incidents over this long weekend.

Let's make sure we all arrive alive to where we need to go by following these four simple and proven road safety actions:

- Make sure everyone has their seatbelts on
- Remove distractions and stay focused on driving
- Don’t get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking or are tired
- Drive at a safe speed for the conditions

With severe and changeable weather forecast for across the country the following winter driving tips are equally important as well.

The only way we can reduce unnecessary road deaths and injuries is by working together to be safe, considerate and alert on the roads. If you spot dangerous driving behaviour or urgent but not life threatening driving incidents you can report it to the New Zealand Police by calling *555 for free from any mobile device.

Have a great long weekend!

chlorinated water: A health warning

It isn't. But NCC staff have relied on the same outdated information in their March 2019 Chlorination Review which quotes the WHO in the section titled "Proof that Chlorine is Effective". The Ministry of Health must re-consider the 2017 directive, given the health risks revealed in recent scientific research. Just one example: the association between water chlorination and the development of colorectal carcinoma is well established: colorectal carcinomas are the third most common tumour worldwide. World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology, 15 April 2016
The Dutch decided to stop using chlorine because of the 1973 discovery that chlorinated water is harmful to humans. It’s time we caught on. Councils need to find out how Christchurch is providing safe drinking water without using chlorine.
