The council want to know if we agree to their planned rates rise of 6.4%. Say "NO" to chlorinated water and "NO" to the rates rise if it means they continue chlorinating our water.
NCC has budgeted $20 million on water treatment plants etc but we still end up with all the CHLORINE PROBLEMS:
1) our natural immunity to illness undermined
2) painful skin conditions
3) discoloured water from the chlorine stripping biofilm from inside the pipes - which ends up, not in the gutter, as they used to do, but in our kitchen sinks.
This is our chance to tell this council we will NOT accept a rates rise. Don't be misled by the council’s website - Napier could safely follow the Christchurch example. For more information email Guardians of the Aquifer: p.doyle@hotmail.com
Submissions deadline Monday 13th May.

Hi Neighbours

Our littlest people need your help. Poverty doesn’t start at 5, but until now there’s been no nationwide programme to help preschoolers who are hungry and cold.

KidsCan is changing that. They’re delivering raincoats, shoes and five fresh meals a week to 25 early childhood centres. Attendance is up, and the children are happier and more settled.

"Everyone has the same meal so children don't feel like they have less," Manaia View Kindergarten teacher Kathy Belz says. "It's upholding everyone's mana.”

40 more centres are waiting for help. KidsCan, Stuff and Neighbourly have partnered up to raise enough money to support 1000 more children - and we need 400 more generous Kiwis to hold little hands. To support a child, sign up at KidsCan.org.nz
