Do you think primary teachers and principals should be striking? Thousands of teachers have taken industrial action on Wednesday, with dozens of rallies planned around the country. They aim to gain attention for better pay, conditions and incentives to attract new teachers. Although about 30,000 people in the profession are involved in the strike, not everyone agrees with it.
So, what are your thoughts on the strike? Do you think teachers deserve better pay? Or should they have stayed around the negotiating table for longer? Are you a teacher or parent with views on the topic? Let us know in the replies!

In just two years the number of infringement notices dished out by the city's dog control officers increased from 26 in 2016/17 to 704 in 2017/18.
Council spokesman Craig Ogborn said the council's dog control team had undergone a "significant restructure" over the past year and was now operating with a full team of four officers, plus a team leader and an administration officer.
"As a result, we are now far more active in the community providing a level of service that our community expects. The new dog control vehicles also provide greater visibility. Due to this increased activity and presence, people are also actively reporting stray and dangerous dogs. We are also actively investigating non-registered dogs, as the law requires all dogs over three months of age to be registered,"

We arrived in the Bay from Wellington in Feb and are setting up a Hawkes Bay dog walking Hound Hikes branch up here. If you'd like your hound to join in on one of our adventure hikes, please get in touch! We are currently running hikes Monday-Friday. We come and pick up and drop off your hound, take them on a 1-1.5 hour adventure hike off leash and also give them a rinse and towel dry if needed afterwards :) We post photos and videos after the hikes to Facebook @houndhiking and Instagram #houndhikesnz.
For 1-2 hikes a week its $30 per hike and for 3-5 hikes a week its $25 per hike. Another hound from the same family is $15 extra per hike.
Check out some of our pics of the hounds in action on hikes :)
Thanks,
Tabitha
