Those sites, Warrington and Ocean View, recorded a reduction of 27 per cent and 50 per cent respectively, despite an increase in visitor numbers. Complaints about those sites also dropped by more than half, with infringement notices also dropping.
The Dunedin City Council is now seeking feedback on whether the site should be made permanent. What do you think? Read more here and tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
Bowel cancer can strike at any age. Each year about 3,000 New Zealanders are diagnosed with the disease and more than 1,200 will die. That’s as many as breast and prostate cancer combined. But it is treatable – and beatable – if detected early enough. Check your symptoms

The easy stuff is fun and quick, it’s true. However, to expand the mind, you must push it to its limits just as you would a muscle. The hard stuff makes you think; it causes you to re-read over and over again until you understand it. Challenge yourself every so often.

A perfect example of this is our Snowdrop and Pleione season. The season is short, but so beautiful! Plant your favourite snowdrops during late winter and early spring in pots, beds, borders or naturalise under trees and shrubs in dappled light.
Pleione’s are a group of small, semi-hardy, highly prized orchids and they are surprisingly easy to grow given the right conditions. In recent years, hybridization between various species and cultivated forms has led to a wide variety of exciting and colourful hybrids.
Blue Mountain Nurseries have a 40-year extensive breeding programme for snowdrops (Galanthus)- and Pleiones. See our online catalogues for new and rare additions under the bulbs tab at our website.
We are taking orders for snowdrops and pleione’s now. Call 03-2048-250 or order online at www.bmn.co.nz.
