In this workshop you will have 3 ceramic baubles to paint however you like. Michelle will then add a satin varnish on top to seal them nicely with a uniform finish, and add a ribbon of your choice.
They will then be ready to collect from The Franklin Art Centre approximately a week later.
Bring yourself, grab a coffee on your way in from the cafe conveniently next to the gallery, and come enjoy some Christmasy treats and other festive elements.
Message from Michelle:
I LOVE Christmas! Everything about it. The food, the smells, the crafts, the tree, the traditions, family and friends. So I've created a fun little workshop for us to get into the festive season.
Take some time out for yourself amongst this crazy end of year season, and join me for a fun festive creative morning, painting your very own ceramic baubles.
Looking forward to having you, being creative together, and getting excited about CHRISTMAS !

The effort to preserve and enhance Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari is, by definition, a very very long-term mission. It is a place that is saving species and bringing joy to people, and will do for centuries to come.
It is literally a commitment that is as close to ‘forever’ as any that can be made by humans.
Such an undertaking therefore requires financial solutions that will provide support far beyond the usual horizons of conservation funding.
Which is why the Maungatautari Ecological Island Trust has established the Maungatautari Sanctuary Nest Egg Fund at Momentum Waikato, the region’s community foundation.
This is an endowment that welcomes public donations and provides investment income into the future, for the crucial bio-diversity endeavours upon this beautiful forested peak.

Opening event:
Saturday 19 October 12-2pm
The Magpies nest is an exploration in narrative utilizing colour, texture, sound, and movement in a variety of both 2d and 3d works. Jenna Winterton brings out an element of playfulness with some interactive elements and bold colours and textures.
Transforming the gallery space into a snapshot of the artists mind, with a wide variety of stories being told from folk lore and myth to personal narratives and experiences much like how a magpie collects small trinkets, this show gathers together many interconnected but independent pieces to create a unified treasure pile of art. The works are interwoven together through materials, found object and overlapping narratives.
The viewer is invited into the nest to see and play with all the treasures the artist has created and to read about the stories behind the pieces.
