Here is what you can put in your kerbside recycling bins (unless your local council is one of the exceptions):
👉 Clean plastics - types 1, 2, and 5 only. Look for the number inside a triangle.
👉 Clean glass bottles and jars - not drinking glasses or other glass items.
👉 Clean paper, including cardboard and books - not paper lined with plastic.
👉 Clean aluminium and steel cans - remember not to squash the cans or put aerosol cans in recycling.
Remember to use the right recycling containers and check with your council if you need to separate recyclables by type.
Some items can be recycled at special collection points, such as aluminium foil, batteries, and more. Contact your council for more information.

This book (for 3-9 year olds) focuses on anthropomorhic characters, Bobby Bear and Freddy Fox, best friends who are always competitive. On their African safari they decide to have a competition to see who takes the best photos of the Big Five. Bobby and Freddy can’t wait to explore the African bush with Manny Meerkat and Harry Hyena, their very interesting safari guides at Lubonzela Lodge. Who will see a lion, elephant, African buffalo, leopard or a rhino first? Will they get to see the Big Five and who gets the best photos? This is where the fun begins…

It’s no longer just about saying goodbye to work - it’s now an opportunity to try something new or keep doing what you love. Rather than hanging up their hats, many of today’s retirees are redefining this phase by staying active through part-time jobs, volunteering, or even launching new careers.
Living in a retirement village doesn’t necessarily mean you’re done with work either; rather, it offers the opportunity to explore different activities, pursue long-held passions, and discover new interests. In fact, many people find the lifestyle gives them more freedom to stay engaged and active through work they enjoy.

The fact is, we now live in an era when all volunteer groups applying for funding are asked to quantify their voluntary community service in dollar terms.
Well, CAB North Shore has done just that. It commissioned the services of a research company that concluded the Bureau's social return on investment was $13.20 for every dollar invested. That return could be safely used by every Bureau throughout NZ.
Many of us volunteers understand the REAL value of the service we provide. We see it or hear it after we've discussed an issue with a client. It usually goes something like this - "I don't know whether you can help me.........." to a "Thank you. I never thought of that" or "I don't know what we'd do without you".
Back to that REAL value again. It doesn't look anywhere near as attractive on a funding application as the cold hard reality of the dollar return on investment.
So this is where you come in. At a time when our workloads are increasing and becoming more complex, the Citizens Advice Bureau NZ is facing funding cuts. The funding future of many Bureaus is at risk.
To secure a sustainable future, we would appreciate it if you contacted Grant McCallum MP at Grant.McCallum@parliament.govt.nz. Mayor Moko Tepania at mayor@fndc.govt.nz and Bay of Islands - Whangaroa Community Board at belinda.ward@fndc.govt.nz. Please let them know the value you place on the services offered by our awesome volunteers at Citizens Advice Bureau Far North and respectfully ask them to sustainably fund us so that we can keep delivering our valuable service.
Thank you.
