Now more than ever, the fern seems to best capture the spirit of our country. If we look to our Māori roots, we are reminded of the twist or pikorua which resembles two intertwined pikopiko ferns - a fern known for thriving in dark, damp areas of our woods. A reminder that difficult conditions can actually be an opportunity for tremendous growth.
The entanglement of the pikorua also has no beginning or end which is often used to represent an everlasting bond. Although we are all on our own path in life, in the end we always come back together - we are all connected through our interwoven lives.

So, come for a ride into history - the oldest line in North Island, and the only train in NZ travelling along a State Highway right through the middle of a town.
We run 4 trains every day over the weekend - Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Trains depart from Kawakawa Railway Station at 10.45am, 12 noon, 1.15pm and 2.30pm on every operating day. Please arrive about 10 minutes prior to departure allowing time to purchase tickets.

We are ready to have a discussion on the positive changes necessary to bring about the shift away from poisons to an ecologically sound approach that takes the whole ecosystem into consideration. We firmly believe that we can change our ways, it will however, take collective effort and positive solutions.
