For the month of November, we want to raise awareness and work together to end all forms of violence including family harm, elder and child abuse, sexual assault, gang violence, and … View moreCreating safer communities means ensuring that no one lives in fear of harm on the streets or in their own home. For the month of November, we want to raise awareness and work together to end all forms of violence including family harm, elder and child abuse, sexual assault, gang violence, and more. These victimisations affect us all and can have lasting effects that spill into our everyday lives including at work and school.
To do your part this month, perhaps consider supporting a women’s refuge or work with Police in your area to host an info night on how to identify elder or child abuse in your community. This month’s campaign also coincides with White Ribbon Day on 25 November which is an internationally celebrated day that aims to prevent violence towards women.

Manufacturers recommend that lifejackets should be replaced after 10 years.

I've uploaded some pictures in the hope someone can identify the type of tree for me. Incidentally, I think I have a small epiphyte of this same tree growing in a fork of my causurina tree. We know about Northland’s unsealed roads, our changeable weather and the fact that our people live over a wide-spread area that’s often difficult to access quickly by road. We’re also aware of the increased risk of death and serious injury caused when medical treatment is delayed – all of which makes Northland’s Rescue Helicopter service so essential.

We want visitors to… View moreOur Responsible Freedom Camping Programme promotes responsible camper behaviour, and we need friendly local faces to be Ambassadors for the district.
As the summer peak season approaches we are expecting a record number of campers to visit Whangarei District for their holidays. We want visitors to feel welcome, and we also want them to respect the local rules! Our Ambassadors interact with campers to offer local advice, answer questions, and explain rules as needed. They can also report issues to Armourguard if enforcement is required. Expenses are covered.
Freedom campers tend to be a mix of locals and foreigners and a range of ages. They're all looking for a nice holiday, and you can be a part of it!
