Dear concerned citizen,

We must now all stay home. Because that’s how we’ll stop the virus.

Level 4 measures will likely be in place for a number of weeks.

Don’t worry. During that time you will still be able to access all the essentials you need, including medicine, food, and other home supplies.

ALL THE TIME, NO EXCEPTIONS
It’s incredibly important that we all follow the Level 4 plan, all the time. No exceptions. Because doing so will save lives.

A CHALLENGE FOR EVERYONE
We realise these are big changes. But these are challenging times.
If we don't all stay home, the whole country will need Level 4 restrictions for longer.

SUPPORT OUR EMERGENCY SERVICE PEOPLE
We owe it to the essential services. Our nurses, doctors and everyone else on the frontline. They’re working tirelessly to save lives. We should all do everything in our power to help them do this.
Thank you to each and every person, for doing their bit.

While you’re staying at home:

STAY CONNECTED
• Don’t let physical distance stop you staying connected. Keep in touch with people using video calls, phone calls, chat and texting.
• If you know people who are living alone, vulnerable, or separated from their loved ones, regularly check-in with them.

STAY WELL
• Continue to practice good hygiene – wash your hands with soap. Then dry.
• Cough or sneeze into your elbow.
• Regularly clean surfaces in your home with disinfectant.
• Keep up regular physical exercise, and get some fresh air when possible. It’s good so long as this is solitary, or only with those you live with.

REACH OUT
If you need advice, support or help, try reaching out to friends, family, whānau or workmates.

WE'RE UPDATING INFORMATION CONSTANTLY

Due to covid 19 we have had to officially close the gates at Whangarei Quarry Gardens.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who have been working so hard this summer. It has been a really big season, with the drought keeping our gardening team busy watering. Thankfully we have a lake, so no shortage of water. Well now our volunteers, like everyone else, can take time to rest and recover. They have certainly earned it, and I know they will be itching to get back into it now that the rain has come and planting season is upon us.
Please stay safe everyone. We look forward to seeing you back in the Gardens soon.

Water delivery crooks

Liz from Rural West Whangarei

I just had really bad customer service with Always Wet Water Deliveries (S.J REID). The driver and the offsider were fantastic, it’s the crooked management with their lack of morals that people should be aware of.

I just had really bad customer service with Always Wet Water Deliveries (S.J REID). The driver and the offsider were fantastic, it’s the crooked management with their lack of morals that people should be aware of.
The cost of 20,000 litres was $540. However I decided to only get 10,000 litres as the tank became just over half full with that amount and I am a small water consumer. Well one would think that would reduce the price to $250 or thereabouts...but no, when I rang the company they said the cost of the trailer and the water cartage, diesel etc made up the main costs (even though I’m not far from their depot) and that the water was only worth $50. So I said oh well best give me the 20,000 litres after all then. I even went out and spoke to the driver personally and he said yes they’re returning with the rest of my water order. Next minute they’re driving off down the road with my other 10,000 litres!! Wtf?? So I rang the company back and was told politely to basically suck eggs and that it was out of her (receptionist) hands.
This water was granted through WINZ, and I think it’s utterly disgusting that they are stealing from the government in this manner.
Just because there’s a water shortage doesn’t mean you can act like crooks.
It’s been a very long wait for this water to come and sadly it’s now left a sour taste in my mouth.
My personal advice due to experience is do not deal with Always Wet Water Deliveries.
