The day started early at 6.00am with a drive around the area in the hope that the quiet morning might entice him to walk a bit more alongside the roads. Dropped a few leaflets at the local supermarket, the weekend market as well. Thank you all for the kindness of your messages and sharing the posts. If we have forgotten to acknowledge you it is a mistake and we are sorry about it. Again we ask people, whanau in Kerikeri , Waipapa and the rest of the Far North district to SHARE , SHARE and hope that if he has travel a lot more afar than we thought and he has been picked up the kind driver will drop him at a vet's , the SPCA...
Skoota is a 10 YO Foxy X Jack Russell , mainly white with a brown spot on his back, has a red collar with names tag and telephone numbers, and a council tag from the South Island as we only recently moved up to Waipapa.
The first and only sighting was 72 hours ago on Kapiro Road Waipapa. Nothing since. He can be timid, certainly not aggressive, not interested in killing and eating sheep.
Also recently had a medical condition making him at times disoriented and unbalanced and for this needs care and regular visit to the vet's .
Again we ask people to share the info if possible as only with a wider community will we be able to locate him.
The country out there is huge and being so small it makes our task almost impossible on our own. Any sighting will help .

Raw and brown sugar products by Chelsea, Pams and Woolworths are affected, and have been sold at retail outlets and supermarkets throughout New Zealand through October to November 4 2021.
In a statement, MPI said that that the food safety risk from these products is low, and informed customers who have bought these products to not consume them.

The recall does not affect any other Chelsea brands of sugar or any other products manufactured by these companies.

The purpose of the Animals Bylaw is to provide for the ownership of animals (excluding dogs) in a way that protects the public from nuisance and maintains and promotes public health and safety. Dogs are controlled under a separate Dog Management Bylaw, which will be reviewed in 2023.
A range options for the management of cats have been considered as part of this bylaw being reviewed. However, there is no national legislation that would give Council powers to regulate cats the way we regulate dogs. Non-bylaw approaches to cat management, such as funding and education, are discussed as part of the review.

Are you ready for fireworks night?
Next week is the 5th of November and many animals around NZ will be struggling with the noise of fireworks 💥
If you know your cat or dog struggles with loud noises, we can set up a few things to help them!
💥 Set up an area they can retreat to that is (ideally) sound proof and comfortable ahead of time
💥 Ensure they are inside and safe. Many dogs and cats go missing this time of the year after running away from the noise….
💥 Close the curtains and play calming music to drown out the booms
💥 Try diverting their attention with food toys, play or positive reinforcement training
💥 Use pheromones (adaptil for dogs, feliway for cats) to help them feel calm and at home
💥Some animals will be helped by anxiety wraps (I’ll be sharing a DIY wrap later in the week).
If your animal really struggles though, now is the time to reach out to your veterinary team for some help, then get in contact with me to make a plan before the next big fireworks event!
