⚠️ DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS. If you love them, don't leave them. ⚠️

It's a message we share time and time again, and this year, we're calling on you to help us spread that message further.
Did you know that calls to SPCA about dogs left inside hot cars made up a whopping 11% of all welfare calls last summer? This is a completely preventable issue, and one which is causing hundreds of dogs (often loved pets) to suffer.
Here are some quick facts to share with the dog owners in your life:

👉 The temperature inside a car can heat to over 50°C in less than 15 minutes.
👉 Parking in the shade and cracking windows does little to help on a warm day. Dogs rely on panting to keep cool, which they can't do in a hot car.
👉 This puts dogs at a high risk of heatstroke - a serious condition for dogs, with a mortality rate between 39%-50%.
👉 It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act to leave a dog in a hot vehicle if they are showing signs of heat stress. You can be fined, and prosecuted.
SPCA has created downloadable resources to help you spread the message even further. Posters, a flyer, and a social media tile can be downloaded from our website here: www.spca.nz...
We encourage you to use these - and ask your local businesses to display the posters if they can. Flyers can be kept in your car and handed out as needed.
This is a community problem, and one we cannot solve alone. Help us to prevent more tragedies this summer by sharing this post.
On behalf of the animals - thank you ❤️

Few things in life are as enriching as the thrill of travel or the camaraderie among friends. At Ryman’s Bert Sutcliffe Village in Auckland, a group of intrepid travellers have combined the two.

It all began when Bert Sutcliffe Village resident Marie began arranging evenings at the theatre for her neighbours. The theatre enthusiasts soon became close friends and as their friendships developed so did their adventures, expanding their horizons to include long lunches, winery tours, group dinners and adventurous holidays in New Zealand and overseas.

December and is due to close on Monday 6th. January. Each year we have raised money for various causes, Families here in Te Aroha, The Friendship hall which needed painting, the Starship Hospital, The community Christmas Dinner, and last year mainly Gisborne families whom we had met personally, and the Peace memorial St. Marks Church. We have been opening our grounds heavily decorated with various displays exciting the children with the snow machine, and astounding the adults, Our Merry Go Round which is only the 2nd year in use has become a real hit for the children and also has entertained the mums and dads with some riding it themselves. Only 3 days left so we hope for fine weather, Gifts for the children as they leave and a huge thank you to those who visit and give their donation towards this years causes. Just $5.00 for an adult and children up to collage leavers $2.00 and of course complimentary for babies. We will open at 7.30pm giving parents the chance to bring their little ones in and then get them home in time for bed, but mainly from 8pm and of course later when dark is the best time. Closing at 10pm. we do ask that you make your visit well before then as it does take us about an hour to close and secure, cover etc everything . if you haven't yet visited this is the very last time we will be doing this, and our hope is that either a club or business, or a group of family or friends will be interested in owning this, as although the Christmas lights in town are beginning to really take off there is nothing quite the same as what we do here. Our thanks to all thus far who have come along and supported us, and a reminder to all that every dollar is past on to the chosen cause of each year, this is NOT a money making event we do for ourselves. i have to thank Matamata and Morrinsville "The Warehouse' and our local Woolworths, (previously Countdown), for help towards the various items we give the children. The bulk of gifts we fund ourselves, and this year a special thanks to Cinderella who has been our star of each evening, chatting to the children and giving out the presents. Thank you to all who have visited and supported this each year, and those whose visit is their first. Without you all we could not do this, so please make our very last Wonderland, a place to visit over these last 3 days.. Thank you and a Happy New year to you all. 109c Centennial Avenue. Te Aroha

From catching sprats on the farm as a young boy to representing New Zealand on the world stage, it’s always been his passion. These days, as a Bruce McLaren Village resident, Neil finds nothing more enjoyable than casting a line, surrounded by scenic vistas and the melodies of native birds, before releasing his catch back into the water.

An experienced fishing guide, Neil shares his love of fly fishing with his new mate and village neighbour, David. While they met in the village, the pair are often mistaken for lifelong friends. Like Neil, David has always been an active person.
