This one is pretty simple. You're a Neighbourly member so connecting with your community is obviously pretty important to you. So this tip is more of a challenge; this year (or this weekend!) make it your mission to meet someone new living near you.

Here's a few things you can do to get you started:
- use the Neighbours Directory to find neighbours on your street.
- introduce yourself on Neighbourly to those living in your neighbourhood. Just a few words about yourself and what brought you here.
- Give something away or sell something! A Neighbourly exchange gives you a chance to meet someone new.
- just head out the door and knock on someone else's!
______
Remember 86% of Kiwis want to get to know their neighbours better, but just don't see them around much (71%). Take the first step!

The Mahurangi Regatta celebrates 40 years of revival on Saturday.

Yacht races get underwaty at 1pm with the Jane Gifford as flagship, and the course—twice around Saddle Island and back up the harbour to Scotts Landing—provides an unparalleled spectacle, particularly for those who take the picnic lunch to Tungutu Point for the most panoramic vantage from which to appreciate the more than a hundred classic wooden boats competing.

On shore there'll be sand sculpting, egg and spoon, sack and three legged racing, with a water run, egg throwing and tug of war to follow.

Prize giving kicks off at 4pm at Scotts landing and the the after match function sees the 18-piece West City Jazz Orchestra 1940s swing-era music get everyone dancing.

Did anyone else get wind damage like this today?

Jay Boreham Reporter from Rodney Times

I didn't realize the wind was strong today.
But the cracking of the branch going and then loud bang as it came down soon let us know in Stanmore Bay.
No damage thankfully, apart from the poor tree. Hope no one else saw any damage.
