Simon Brown
28 February - 18 March

'Homecoming' celebrates Simon Brown’s journey since graduating from the 'No More Horsing Around' photography course held right here in the rooms above this gallery in 2016. As Simon opens his treasure chest in this, his first exhibition, his hope is that you may be moved by the stories told here, resonate with the images and be inspired to follow your passion. And, yes, as a debutant, there are nerves but what better place to share his story than in his own hometown surrounded by the art he has created and with the people he loves.

This collection includes a wide range of subject matter from all over New Zealand and beyond; each piece has been chosen because of the story it tells, the feedback Simon has received and the joy they bring to him personally.

If you’re wearing dentures, it’s important to be mindful of the foods you eat. Some foods can be difficult to chew and may cause discomfort or damage to your dentures. Here are some foods to avoid when wearing dentures:

- Sticky foods like chewing gum
- Hard, crunchy foods like raw vegetables, fruit, crackers, popcorn, crusty bread, and whole nuts
- Stringy meat

Remember, when you first get your dentures, it’s best to stick to soft foods that don’t require a lot of chewing.

Gradually transition to solid foods, but be sure to cut them into small pieces and chew slowly. Avoid holding any drink in your mouth for too long as it could loosen the bottom dentures. And don’t forget to avoid spicy foods as they can irritate sores that may exist underneath the false teeth on your gums.
