Consumer is WRONG!
As the person who brought Elton to NZ on the last 5 occasions, I am very qualified to make comment on the assertion by Consumer that fans should get partial refunds for the concert the other night due to Elton leaving the stage with an illness.
First the issue of what is 'the concert'?
As the Promoter (Chugg) did not advertise a specific duration of the concert or the list of songs that were going to be played, any appearance by the said artist (Elton) constitutes a performance/concert and the 2 hours that he delivered is huge value for money and longer time onstage than most other artists and nearly all the Millennial artists half his age.
Now the technical legality......:
The party the Consumer is looking at is the Promoter Chugg who has the contract with Elton for his Australasian tour. As Elton's contract will state based on the ones I have been part of in the past, he legally must play 90 minutes which he did the other night. All extra time is at the discretion of the artist as is his song choices. Elton is rare in that he has always delivered a 2 1/2 to 3 hour concert(s) because he wants to and NOT because he has too. It's his thing!
So the audience got more than the promoter was contracted with the artist to provide, there was no misleading advertising and the audience had a 30 minute extra 4-5 songs already.
If he had stood up taken a bow and waved and walked off no one would have been the wiser!
So Consumer while often you get it right. This time you got it wrong!

Our waterways and all the fish and species that live in them are precious taonga, so we have set out to understand how they are valued and what should be done to provide the future we want for our water. I am a conduit to Ngāti Toa Rangatira mana whenua on the Whaitua Committee. I am looking forward to working with Ngāti Toa mana whenua and you to shape the future of our water.

Our population is growing fast and placing more pressure waste and stormwater infrastructure. Some of our waterways have high levels of E-coli and other illness causing bacteria for anyone who ingests them. We need your help in protecting the health and mauri of our waterways, for us and for our children , which are under pressure due to increasing population and land development.

Fixing the waste and stormwater infrastructure is costly. Help us to find solutions that are fair and equitable. These are big changes, and needs to reflect our communities’ views informed by good evidence and information.

Connect with us to talk about what we can do together. You can reach us at whaitua@gw.govt.nz. To see what we have been doing visit our Facebook page (www.facebook.com...), and to share what you value about our water and your solutions have your say (www.haveyoursay.gw.gov.nz...)

I’ve been teaching Spanish for the last twelve years both in language schools and privately, in Germany, Perú, and in the last three years in Newtown. I just moved to Lower Hutt a couple of weeks ago and I'll be starting Spanish group classes every Monday from March 9 onwards (except public holidays) at the Russell Keown House in Lower Hutt (1 Knights Road, entrance on Queens Drive).

For people interested in learning Spanish or consolidating their knowledge or maybe for those would like to sharpen up their conversational skills, I'll have three classes:

6.00-7.00pm Spanish for beginners
7.00-8.00pm Pre-Intermediate Spanish
8.00-9.00pm Conversational Spanish (for people that already have around an intermediate level of Spanish)

$15 per class or $65 for five classes.

If you're looking for a private class, these are available for $40-50 per hour in Lower Hutt.

Contact me to register and also feel free to ask for more information :)

Muchos saludos
Maribel
